What is a click counter?
A click counter adds one to a running total every time you press a button. It is the digital descendant of the handheld tally counter: the metal clicker with a thumb button and number wheels that ushers, security staff and field researchers have used for decades. Both replace the oldest method of all, tally marks scratched in groups of five on paper.
This page keeps the part that works, one press equals one count, and rebuilds everything around it. The display is a split-flap board, the kind that once announced departures in airports and train stations, and each row of the board is its own counter. That single change turns a simple counter into something no clicker can do: counting several things at once, on one screen, without losing your place in any of them.
How to use this tally counter
Select a counter
Click a row, or press 1 to 9. Press N for a new counter and click its name to rename it.
Count
Press the tap strip or Space. Set counts per click to 1, 5, 10, 100 or any custom amount up to 9999.
Set a goal
Click the goal cell and type a target. The row shows progress, status and a live ETA.
Fix mistakes
Down arrow subtracts, Z undoes. Each counter keeps its own 200-step undo history.
Export
Copy a text summary of every counter, or download the session as a timestamped CSV.
One board, many tally counters
Most online counters give you a single number, so counting two related things means two browser tabs and a lot of switching. On the board, related counts live on neighbouring rows. The classic example is live occupancy: one counter for people in, one for people out, and the difference is how many are inside right now.

Goals, status and the live ETA
Every counter can carry a target. Click the goal cell on a row, type a number, and the board starts treating that row like a departure: a progress bar fills toward the goal and the status word changes as you count. The ETA is calculated from your rate over the last ten seconds, so it answers the practical question, if I keep this pace, when am I done? It is an estimate by design and it updates as your pace changes.

Private by design. Counting happens entirely in your browser. No count, name or keystroke is sent to a server, no account exists, and nothing is stored after you close the tab. That is also why the board works offline once the page has loaded, and why exporting a CSV is the way to keep your numbers.
